An evening workshop introducing the toe-tapping world of Scottish traditional music, presented by Rachel Gray with support from the Finger Lakes Pipes and Drums band.
Learn about the instruments and styles that have made Scottish music world-famous, listen to examples of modern and traditional Scottish music, and try your hand at the bagpipes! No previous experience is necessary- just an interest in trying something new and having some fun!
Rachel is a Scottish piper and traditional musician from Edinburgh and a current Cornell graduate student. She is the holder of the 2018-19 St Andrews Society for the State of New York Scholarship- a fund intended to promote educational exchange and celebrate the historical and cultural connections between Scotland and New York state. She has been a bagpipe instructor to schools and local communities for 12 years and was formerly a member of the National Youth Pipe Band of Scotland and the Piper to the Chancellor of the University of St Andrews.
